Understanding Dreams in Islam

Sometimes a dream is just a reflection of your day. Sometimes it is a gentle message your heart needs to hear.

The Prophet ﷺ taught that dreams are of three types. Some are from Allah – bringing comfort, warning or glad tidings. Some come from Shaytan – disturbing, frightening and confusing. Others are simply the echoes of what we think and talk about during the day.

When a dream leaves you at peace and encourages you to do more good, it may be a blessing. When it pushes you towards fear, despair or disobedience, it is not to be followed – it is to be ignored and resisted.
  • Comforting dreams can be a sign of Allah’s mercy and encouragement.
  • Disturbing dreams should be spit off lightly to the left, kept private, and ignored.
  • Everyday dreams usually need no interpretation at all.

A believer does not build their whole life on dreams, but they do not dismiss them either. When dreams repeat, feel unusually clear, or stay in the heart for days, it can be helpful to seek a careful, Qur’an-based interpretation from someone you trust.

Through this platform, Syed Ehraz Ahmed offers private dream interpretation rooted in Islamic principles – without fortune-telling, guessing the unseen, or promising what only Allah controls. The goal is to help you reflect, correct, and move closer to Allah.
